Every single grain of farmers’ wheat will be purchased: CM Chouhan

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that every single grain of wheat of farmers will be purchased. All arrangements for wheat procurement have been ensured in advance in all the districts. To ensure that farmers do not face any problem, extensive arrangements will be made and all necessary facilities will be made available at the procurement centres. Timely harvest of farmers’ crops and payment after procurement should be ensured. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that for me, every farmer is important. No payments of farmers should be stopped. Arrangements should also be made for immediate transportation of the procured crop.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that all arrangements for procurement of wheat on support price are being made on priority basis in the state. In Indore and Ujjain divisions, wheat procurement work will be started from March 22 and from April 1 in the remaining divisions. He informed that farmers have been registered for wheat procurement. The date of registration has been extended twice so that no farmer is deprived of registration.

Purchase to be made in 4763 procurement centers

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that during the Corona period last year, the number of procurement centers was increased for the convenience of farmers. This time, arrangement of procurement has been made at 4763 centers. Suitable arrangements are also being made for the farmers at all procurement centers. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has appealed to the farmers that they can bring their wheat to the procurement centers without any hesitation. The government will buy every single grain of wheat from all farmers. This time the procurement price is estimated at 125 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. So far, 24 lakh 58 thousand farmers have registered for wheat procurement. This time the support price of wheat will be Rs. 1975 per quintal. Last year it was Rs 1925 per quintal.

Procurement of gram, lentil and mustard from March 22

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the procurement of gram, lentil and mustard will be started from March 22, which will last till May 15. This time the work of procurement will be done by Markfed. The Chief Minister said that the support price of gram is Rs. 5100, support price of mustard is Rs. 4650 and the support price of lentils is Rs. 5100 per quintal. Procurement of 14 lakh 51 thousand tons of gram, one lakh 37 thousand tons of lentils and 3 lakh 90 thousand tons of mustard is estimated.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has given strict instructions to officials that no farmer should be deprived of selling his produce and all farmers should get timely payment for their produce. Non-payment to the farmer comes under the category of crime. Property of those found guilty will be attached and they will be sent to jail. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that cooperatives whose credibility is doubtful should not be given the task of procurement this time. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that like last year, procurement work will be given tp self-help groups and agricultural producer groups thihs time also. Last year, 9 lakh 78 thousand 526 quintal wheat was procured by self-help groups and agricultural producer groups at 39 procurement centers, which was 3 percent of the total production.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the record wheat procurement of one crore 29 lakh metric tonnes of wheat on support price in the Rabi marketing year 2020-21 in Madhya Pradesh s attributed to the hard work of farmers. The state’s farmers have brought glory to the name of Madhya Pradesh at the national level, which was lauded all over. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the systematic arrangements made by the government also played a role in the record purchase made on support price in the history of the state during the Corona period.
