Excursion to the Petrozavodsk branch of JSC “AEM-technologies”

In order to familiarize with the enterprise for the graduate students of the Physico-Technical Institute of PetrSU (5th and 6th courses of the “Instrument Engineering” direction), within the framework of the “Week without turnstiles” campaign, an excursion was held to the “Petrozavodskmash” branch of AEM-technologies.
The excursion was organized by the staff of the Physico-Technical Institute, Professor KIISiFE, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. N.M. Yakovleva and Ph.D. K.V. Stepanova.

Joint Stock Company Engineering Company AEM-Technologies is a part of the machine-building division of Rosatom State Corporation – Atomenergomash and is one of the leading Russian companies in the field of power engineering for Russian and foreign nuclear power plants.

During the excursion, the students visited the production shops, the product quality control section and the central factory laboratory, got acquainted with the methods of non-destructive testing of materials and products (the method of radiographic, liquid and ultrasonic testing) and saw the process of detecting defects in finished products using an ultrasonic flaw detector. In the central factory laboratory, which carries out quality control in the process of manufacturing finished products, students visited the physical-mechanical, metallographic and chemical laboratories, got acquainted with modern laboratory equipment.

At the end of the excursion, all students noted the importance of this kind of activities, since they allow you to visually familiarize yourself with modern equipment, equipment and technologies, the organization of the production process, as well as interesting and at the same time demanded technical professions.
