Experts deliberate on “Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future” on National Technology Day, at Amity
Amity University Uttar Pradesh conducted a Panel Discussion on the theme, “Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future”, to celebrate National Technology Day, on virtual platform.
Sharing a presentation on “Technology Synergy for Innovative Science”, Dr Sunita Mishra, Sr Principal Scientist, CSIO-CSIR, Chandigarh, averred, “The key driving factors of scientific innovation include resources and capabilities and the two main factors contributing to new innovation include technological capabilities and technological management. Technology capability leads to know-how which is the first important resource for innovation, while, technology management is the capacity to develop and implement technological capability. Defining innovation, she further added, “Innovation is a process from idea to launch, with each stage composed of a set of required activities usually, accomplished by different synergy processes between technology management and technological capability. We need to focus on innovation in Science & Technology through which we can ensure a Sustainable Future.”
Explaining about “Technological Advancements in Pharma sector”, Dr. Birendra Singh, President Global Quality, Mankind Pharma, New Delhi, stated, “Emerging technologies such as Industrial Robots, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning help to accelerate R&D manufacturing and analysis of a product. Robotics and automation solutions offer precise and accurate results and help in the sustainable production of quality medicines, especially injectable products, to cope with the increase in demand of new drugs and medicines in a short period of time, e.g, Corona Vaccine Development. By bringing benefits like lesser space utilization and reduced downtime, they are also helpful in enhancing the productivity without compromising the medicine quality. While, Machine Learning has opened new doors in the healthcare industry by innovation in drug discovery, revolution in pharmaceutical R&D and better accuracy in epidemic prediction.”
Highlighting “Technology Strategies for Energy Storage Value Chain”, Mr. Robin George, Chief of Climate Action & Vice President, Log9 Materials, Bengaluru, mentioned, “There is a dire need to revolutionize the energy sector, therefore, instead of relying on other countries such as China and Korea, we need to develop the technologies in our own country to revive the energy sector. Global Warming and Climate Change are the real burning topics today and we must develop and introduce new technologies which can combat the same. Sustainable Future is only possible if we come up with path-breaking research and innovation in this field and revolutionary measures need to be adopted to bring about substantial transformation in our environment.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, averred, “Today, as we celebrate National Technology Day, we also need to look at the scope, challenges and opportunities in the technology sector, the areas where we are lacking and how can we make better advancements in this field. On one hand, technological advancement has made our lives highly simple and easier, on the other hand, technology has also made us lazy and inactive as everything is available to us at the click of a button. Now, is the right time for collaboration with industries and government organizations to expand the scope of research in the field of Science and Technology by developing technologies which can protect our environment and enhance sustainable development.”
Welcoming the guests on this occasion, Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey, Joint Director, Amity School of Engineering & Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated, “Amity is a leading research and innovation driven University and has filed over 1600 patents. Through the celebration of National Technology Day, we are able to appreciate the work of Indian Scientists, Engineers and Researchers who have done remarkable work in the field of research and innovation. The theme for this year’s National Technology Day, further reinforces the need for sustainability and how technology can play a major role in ensuring a sustainable future.”
