‘Exploring our Planet’ – Tagore International, Vasant Vihar wins the Delhi State Level Wild Wisdom Quiz 2019

Delhi: Nearly 200 students came together from across the schools in Delhi NCR today to take part in the State Level Finals of the Wild Wisdom Quiz 2019. Organized by WWF-India, in partnership with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ) is Asia’s Biggest and India’s only International level wildlife quiz. The quiz has travelled this year to UK, Colombia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Nepal & Bhutan.

Having completed over a decade, the Wild Wisdom Quiz, now in its 12th year, celebrates the natural world and encourages children to learn more about the planet we live in and its natural wonders through a fun and participatory methodology. This year the quiz focuses on ‘Exploring our Planet’ inspired by ‘Our Planet’ a ground-breaking eight-part nature documentary series streaming on Netflix, narrated by Sir David Attenborough. A collaborative between WWF, Netflix and Silverback Films, the series showcases the planet’s most precious species and fragile habitats as they’ve never been seen before, from the remote Arctic wilderness and mysterious deep oceans to the diverse jungles of South America. It aims to start a fun yet knowledgeable and long lasting discussion on conservation of our environment.

The WWQ will have 15 State Level Finals across the country, followed by the National Level and International Level where all State Level Winners will compete against each other and winners from other participating countries which will be hosted by, renowned television artist and quiz show host, Cyrus Sahukar This will be held at New Delhi in November, on 19th and 20th, 2019.

The Delhi event saw participation from 224 students selected, from 112 schools across Delhi, keen to use this pan-India platform to not only showcase their knowledge, but also, learn and satisfy their ever-growing curiosity about our environment. Shiven Deveshwar & Vardhan Pandey, The Shri Ram Aravali were awarded the winners of the primary level quiz.

Shubhangi Aparajita & Kaizan Minotra were awarded the winners of the State Level Quiz, they will now be representing Delhi at the National Level in November 2019.

Welcoming the students, Ms. Radhika Suri, Director Environment Education said, “The journey of the Wild Wisdom Quiz over the last decade reaffirms my belief in children being the change makers and spearheading the journey of conservation in the years to come. The enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge exhibited by students never cease to amaze me and makes me very confident that our planet is in good hands. I congratulate all the schools, teachers and children who have been a part of the Wild Wisdom journey and hope that this event will continue to inspire many younger minds in the future. I also wish to urge students and teachers present here today, to do whatever little they can, every drop in the ocean counts”

The winners at the State Level were honored by Mr. Ajay Poonia, Quiz Master WWQ Delhi State Level 2019 who was inspired by the fervor shown by the participating students towards the quiz.
