Extension lecture held on “Non-Invasive Cardiac Output Monitoring”
ALIGARH : The Department of Anaesthesiology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an extension lecture on “Non-Invasive Cardiac Output Monitoring,” by the guest speaker, Dr Faizan Zia, Fellow of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, Consultant Cardiac Anaesthesiologist and Head of the Cardiac Section at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Jeddah, KSA.
Dr Zia discussed the role of non-invasive cardiac monitoring techniques in both cardiac and non-cardiac surgeries and highlighted the importance of the latest cardiac output monitoring techniques in improving patient outcomes and safety during surgeries.
He stated that the non-invasive cardiac output monitoring (NICOM) is a valuable tool in clinical settings, as it allows for the continuous assessment of cardiac output without the need for invasive procedures like pulmonary artery catheterization. NICOM provides real-time data on the heart’s pumping efficiency, and its non-invasive nature reduces the risk of complications, making it safer and more comfortable for patients while still delivering accurate and reliable hemodynamic information.
In her presidential remarks, Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and CMS, J.N. Medical College and Hospital, reiterated the significance of cardiac output monitoring devices in patient care. She also expressed the JNMC’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Hammad Usmani, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology, emphasized the value and significance of such academic events in fostering knowledge sharing and professional development.
