Extension lecture on “Women Empowerment” #G20
ALIGARH : Prof Sharmistha Banerjee, Former Head, Department of Business Administration, University of Calcutta, while delivering an extension lecture at the Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University, urged upon all to ensure delivery and fulfillment of women’s rights to them in order to promote women’s empowerment in society. She was delivering the lecture on “Women Empowerment”, held under the celebrations related to India’s G20 Presidency.
Prof Banerjee elaborated upon the findings of her research on women empowerment and discussed the key lessons derived by her. She emphasized the need for cultural understanding of women’s empowerment as opposed to a simplistic understanding of women’s rights.
Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Prof S. M. Imamul Haque, Chairman, Department of Commerce highlighted the need for women’s empowerment in every sphere of life.
Extending a vote of thanks, Prof Nawab Ali Khan urged the students to adopt practices that promote women’s empowerment in their families and at the workplace.
The programme concluded with an interactive session for more than 100 students, research scholars and faculty members.
