Faculty of Law Organises Webinar on International Space Law

 

Aligarh : Prof Sandeepa Bhat B., Director of Aviation and Space Laws at the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata discussed the challenges in space on military interventions in space-related activities, while delivering his keynote address in the international webinar on ‘Contemporary Trends in International Space Law’, organized by the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Prof Bhat talked about the demarcation line (i.e., the Karman line) and its importance along with the line that needs to be drawn between Space Law and Aviation Law and space liability insurance.

Prof Christopher D. Johnson from Laden University, Netherland had a closer scrutiny of the existing international space treaties and its private ownership of space resources retrieved from space and lunar missions.

Earlier, Prof M.Z.M. Nomani, Dean Faculty of Law, AMU delivered the welcome address, and discussed issues related to international law, outer and inner space law and environmental and intellectual property. He emphasized the need for more research into the field of international space policies with the advent of the commercialization of space tourism and the positive and leadership role of developing nations especially, India.

The webinar attracted more than 1200 participants across 21 countries with polemical interventions.

Dr Shahab Shabbir, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, and the programme coordinator proposed a vote of thanks. The student Coordinators of the event Miss Khadija, Arman, Sanu, Arham, Rushan, Noorain, and the team made remarkable efforts for making the webinar a success.
