Farmers from Reasi visit Krishi Bhawan Jammu for Practical Exposure

Jammu: A group of 81 farmers, including 20 woman farmers, from District Reasi today visited Krishi Bhawan Jammu as a part of practical training and demonstration on latest scientific interventions in field of Agriculture.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, Inder Jeet advised the farmers to interact with the experts to learn about diversified farming for better income, Protected Cultivation of Vegetables, Mushroom Cultivation, use of Latest Agriculture Machinery to save time and labour and share the knowledge gained during the visit with the fellow farmers in their respective areas.

He emphasized on the adaption of organic farming to raise the economic status of the farmers by the way of formation of Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) for better marketing of their produce. Meanwhile vegetable seedlings were also distributed to the farmers by Director AP&FW.

Farmers visited Plant Health Clinic Jammu, Mushroom Demonstration and Training Centre, Protected Vegetable Cultivation Unit, Medicinal & herbal park, Apiculture Unit, Vermicompost unit, Advanced Pasteurized Mushroom compost making plant at Krishi Bhawan Jammu for practical demonstration and interacted with the experts concerned. DPD ATMA, Romesh Khosa, DAO (Ext), Rajesh Verma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Reasi, Guldev and Agriculture Extension Assistants of Reasi accompanied the farmers.

The Resource persons/experts who interacted with the farmers include Agronomist Vegetable Improvement Scheme, J. C. Raina, MDO, Vinod Kapoor, I/C Phant Health Clinic, Arun Khajuria, I/C JPAE Farm, Arun Jaral, I/C NVPGH, Rohit Baloria and others officers of the department.

The farmers are on exposure visit with in the UT organized by Department of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, Reasi under ATMA for awareness and practical guidance from the experts on different aspects of farming.
