F&ES department bids warm farewell to retiring Jt Director

JAMMU: A farewell was organized on the retirement of Girdhari Lal Pandita, Joint Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Jammu Range here at F&ES Hqrs Gandhi Nagar. The function was attended by Dr B. Srinivas, IPS, DGP/Director Fire and Emergency Services; R. K. Raina, Deputy Director F&ES J&K and other senior officers of the Department, besides family members of the retiring officer.

Recalling his services, the Director F&ES stated that Pandita had joined the Department as Sub Officer in the year 1986 and rose to the position of Joint Director by the virtue of his hard work, commitment and high sense of responsibility. The officer with an illustrious service career spanning over 36 years served the Department in different capacities both in the Valley as well as in almost every district of Jammu. The officer was always found leading the firefighters during the call of emergency and showed utmost courage and selflessness during firefighting and rescue operations.

In one such recent fire incident at Industrial Estate Udhampur and Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, the officer led his men during nocturnal fire operations which saved human lives as well as property. The public rapport of the officer has been quite noteworthy as he would reach out to the cross sections of the society in the case of emergency. While relinquishing the responsibilities, the Fire and Emergency Services Department will be missing a great and professional firefighter and his services shall always be remembered by the Department.

On this occasion, the officer was presented with a retirement gift and cheque by the Director F&ES and wished him a happy and healthy post retirement life.
