Festivity marks I-Day celebrations in Educational Institutions
JAMMU: The educational institutions across Jammu Division erupted in festivities as students and teachers celebrate independence by organising flag hoisting functions and cultural programmes with due adherence to Covid safety Protocols.
PGGCW Gandhi Nagar
Government P G College for Women, Gandhinagar paid reverence to the Nation by hoisting the National Flag in the College Premises.
Principal, Dr. Sangita Nagari along with teaching & non- teaching staff , NSS volunteers and NCC cadets were present.
The Principal of the College paid a tribute to martyrs who laid their lives for the sake of the nation.
A Cultural Programme was also organised to celebrate the National Festival. Patriotic Songs were presented by students and staff. The students also rocked the stage with their wonderful dance performance.
The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Mala Bhasin ( NSSPO). Dr. Monika Hans ( NSSPO) ; Prof.Lt. Suman Bala (ANO) and Prof. Abhinav Sharma were also present.
HSS Channi Himmat
The students and faculty members of Government Higher Secondary School Channi Himmat celebrated the 75th Independence Day with great fervour and patriotic zeal. Principal Sahnaz Chowdhary hoisted the tricolour.
Sweets, juices and biscuits were distributed among students followed by a small cultural programme .The students were felicitated with cash prizes.
Government Polytechnic Kishtwar
Government Polytechnic College, Kishtwar Celebrated 75th Independence Day as the Principal Engr. H A Bhardwaj along with staff members and students hoisted the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem. This entailed a short celebration including a Dance recital and a Musical performance by students with due adherence to the COVID-19 norms.
The Principal of the Institute, while speaking on the occasion, remembered the sacrifices of our martyrs who laid down their lives for our precious Independence. He urged students to realize, understand and cherish our coveted freedom and work towards a progressive nation. He extended his greetings on this occasion. He hoped that the COVID Pandemic would soon be rooted out and College would resume normally.
There was an impressive Prize Distribution ceremony followed by vote of Thanks by the Engr. Raj Kumar, HOD of the Institute.
The week-long celebration of *Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav* which included Swachta Abhyan, Poster Making Competition, Patriotic Song Competition, Plantation Drive, Face-lifting & Fumigation of College Building was concluded today.
GCE&T
Government College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu saluted the Nation and its Freedom fighters on the eve of 75th Independence Day. The staff and students of GCET marked the occasion by hoisting the National Flag followed by playing the National Anthem with great joy, enthusiasm and upholding the patriotic fervor. The celebrations started with the unfurling of the National flag by Principal of the college Dr.Sameru Sharma.
The principal in her address urged the students to take the pledge towards a clean & green India, poverty free, corruption free and communalism free India to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation. The celebration continued with the other events which included plantation drives by the staff and students of the college. More than 50 saplings were planted in the campus and NSS volunteers took the pledge to take care of them in the campus. Further the NSS volunteers of the college organized a Flag relay in the campus and around the surrounding villages to express their joy for freedom. The principal of the college congratulated all the students and staff members for the occasion and lauded the efforts of Balbir Singh, Dr. Raman Gupta and Vishal Vaid for making the necessary arrangements.

Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bazar Qasaban, Jammu celebrated 75th year of Indian Independence Day 2021, with great fervour, enthusiasm and National Spirit. Principal, Satinder Kaur unfurled the National Flag in presence of the school children and the staff members of the school.
The event was marked by the cultural items presented by the school students depicting the sacrifices by our freedom fighters. The school reverberated with patriotic favour and enthusiasm as the students performed. School children also delivered speeches and participated in other patriotic activities. The Principal Satinder Kaur congratulated the staff members and students on this occasion. She urged the school children to study with devotion and highlighted the significance of the “75 year of Indian Independence Day. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem by all the participants.
