Feynman memorial lecture held

ALIGARH: Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar (National Science Chair, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and former Vice Chancellor, BHU) delivered the first Feynman Memorial Lecture, 2022, on “Genetically Engineered Vaccine against Anthrax: From Clone to Clinical Trials”, He shared his experiences from cloning a gene responsible for developing a vaccine against anthrax and the result of its clinical trials. He highlighted the aspect of science that can be utilized for the betterment of humanity and mitigate its problems.

 

The lecture was organized by the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre (INC), Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University

 

Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Dr Mohammad Azhar Aziz (Director, INC)gave an overview of the centre and said that the “Feynman Memorial lecture” is meant to provide a platform to hear from stalwarts who changed the landscape of science.

 

Dr Afzal Ahmad announced the national-level technology idea contest and highlighted its importance and the conceptual context. Dr Farasha Sama announced the release of “Nano Letters”, a quarterly magazine of the centre.

 

Prof Absar Ahmad ( and programme convener) extended the vote of thanks and felicitated Mr Mohd Mohib Alam, a non-teaching employee, with a cash prize of Rs 5000/- and a certificate of appreciation, for his commendable performance. The award is sponsored by the Aziz Memorial Foundation.
