Bhubanswar: The First Preparatory Meeting of the 19th IUAES World Congress of Anthropology, which will be held from January 15 – 19, 2023, took place at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) on Wednesday. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS presided over the meeting, in which Prof. Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, VC, Utkal University; Prof. Deepak Behera, VC, Sambalpur University; Prof. Dr. Kamal K. Mishra, VC, Utkal University of Culture; Shri R. N. Dash, Secretary KIIT & KISS and Dr. A. B. Ota, Director and Special Secretary, SC & ST Development, Govt. of Odisha were also present.
Reflecting upon his association with KIIT & KISS’ global outreach, Dr. Ota assured support from the Tribal Research Institute, Govt. of Odisha. Prof. Behera suggested making an advisory committee and an organizing committee for the 19th IUAES. He also suggested global outreach, so that anthropologists and delegates from across 150 countries of the world could join the congress.
More than 300 Anthropologists attended the first preparatory meeting and thanked Dr. Samanta for his efforts to bring the 19th IUAES World Congress to KISS and the country after a gap of 45 years. They also gave their suggestions to make the congress successful. It was decided to hold preparatory meetings in various parts of the country to involve all the Anthropology Associations, organizations, Anthropologists, researchers and academicians. Among others, renowned anthropologist Prof. S. N. Rath; Prof. H. K. Mohanty, VC, KIIT Deemed to be University; Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar and Shri Julius Lakra, Registrar, KISS Deemed to be University were also present.
