Fit India week observed

 

ALIGARH  : The Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged organized a week-long observational programme to mark the Fit India Week and a number of sports and physical activities were conducted, involving students to make them aware of the importance of keeping fit and healthy. The activities included Yoga dance, cricket, ball passing, lemon race, tug of war, kabaddi kho-kho and sack race.

In his address, the chief guest, Prof Brij Bhushan Singh (Department of Physical Education) said that Indian saints have considered yoga to be a universal attribute of mind, which enhances the spiritual, mental and physical status of the human body. It is the harmonizing system which rejuvenates the mind and soul.

He mentioned various Yoga asanas, including Pranayam, Parvatasna, Gaumukhasana and Pawanmuktasana, which have great health benefits.

The school Principal, Dr Naila Rashid highlighted the importance of physical exercises that help maintain the physical and mental health.
