Flash-mob, celebrities light up city in the run-up to IIMK-Peekay Steel Calicut Half Marathon 2020

Kozhikode: In a final countdown to the 11th edition of Calicut Half Marathon, being organised by IIM Kozhikode in association with Peekay Steel, Kozhikode city witnessed energetic dance acts as students from the Premier Management School left commuters awe-struck at two of the most prominent spots in the city, last evening. The flash mob routine not only caught the citizens by surprise at Eham Digitals and Hi-Lite Mall, but also gathered applause for its effort to create awareness about the theme of the marathon, “Pursuit of Happiness: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind”.

This edition of the Calicut Half Marathon is scheduled for 23rd February (Sunday), and the lead up events organised by IIMK in coordination with other stakeholders has brought citizens of Kozhikode town together to create a healthy environment and generate a buzz about the event in the city.

Earlier, IIMK had announced that the Institute will be honouring renowned wrestler and Arjuna Awardee Mrs. Babita Phogat with IIMK’s ‘National Excellence Award’ to mark the 11th edition of Peekay Steel Calicut Half Marathon on 23rd February, 2020. The award is a replica of the ‘Arise Arjuna’ statue present at IIM Kozhikode. The award which was instituted last year was first conferred on Dr Deepa Malik, who was the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Paralympic Games. Besides Mrs Phogat, the Calicut Half Marathon scheduled for 23rd February, will also be attended by actor Mr Chethan Jayalal, winner of the ‘Kerala State Film Award’ for Best Child Artist in 2016 for portraying the title role in the film Guppy.
