Food Safety -DFCO Doda hosts Interactive workshop for Bakers
DODA : The Department of Food Safety DFCO Doda, under the yearly Calendar activity, today convened an interactive workshop with Bakers Association here at District headquarters.
The event was held on the directions of Commissionerate, FDA J&K and support of District Administration in the interest of Consumer Safety.
Taraq Ahmad Butt, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety DFCO Doda along with his team including Javed Iqbal Bangroo, Food safety Officer and other officials conducted the event.
During different sessions of the workshop, awareness was imparted to the Food Business Operators under FSSA. Rules and Regulations and more importantly the agendas were discussed at length including timely Renewal of the licences/Registrations(Online) to avoid inconvenience at the both ends etc.
Stress was laid on submission of annual returns well in time and the manufacturers were asked to get their mandatory documents for Modifications in Food Categories.
Besides, all the Business Operators were advised to get bi-annual water test reports and product test reports, which together are most significant for making the industry safe.
Taking the sessions ahead to the Consumers Safety all the Food Business Operators were directed to upload the Renewal of Risk Based Certifications.
Expressing concern over the usage of Baking powder and colors, the Enforcement Officers of the Department asked them to avoid Baking powder above prescribed limits and desist from using unpermitted colours which are carcinogenic and lead to Health hazards.
The President of Bakers Association, Liaqat Indrabi expressed his satisfaction with the guidelines enumerated in the interactive session and assured to adhere to the guidelines as per the Act.
To make the session more innovative, the Enforcement Officers of the Department enlightened the participants with the features of the Eat Right India campaign which is underway under the Aegis of FSSAI. As a part of the Eat Right Movement, Food Businesses have been directed to promote healthier Food Options in Several ways including phasing out of Trans fats in Food products to make the Nation Trans fat free by 2022.
