Forest Deptt organizes mega plantation drive at Sainik School Manasbal
Ganderbal: The J&K Forest Department organized a Mega plantation programme under initiative “Green J&K Drive” at Sainik School hillock in Manasbal Ganderbal.
During the drive around 10, 000 Saplings of different varieties were planted on 7 hectares of land which witnessed participation forest officials, school management and civil society members.
The drive was initiated by PCCF J&K, Dr Mohit Gera, in presence of Chief Conservator of Forests Kashmir, Farooq Gillani and other senior officers of Forest department. The programme was organised by Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal.
Dr Mohit Gera while addressing the gathering said that tree plantation is the most important to boost environmental protection measures.
On the occasion, CCF Kashmir elaborated the Green J&K Drive initiative under which Forest Department is collaborating with different departments for carrying out institutional plantations.
He informed that around 50 lac plants are being planted under the initiative till ending March.
Principal Sainik School Manasbal, Nazir Ahmed Dar expressed his gratitude to forest department for organising plantation drive in the school campus. He assured that the saplings which have been planted during the programme will be taken care of by the students of the school.
