Forest Division Doda holds series of plantation drives under “One Beat Guard, One Village” campaign
DODA : Forest Division Doda, in continuation to its plantation drives under “One Beat Guard, One Village” campaign, conducted plantation drive in Khandan village of tehsil Kastigarh. Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle Dr Jatindera Kumar Singh, DFO Doda Navneet Singh, Range officer (Saraj) Adil Shan and other forest employees were present during the plantation/ awareness drive.
Forest Rights Committee Chairman Kashmir Singh Manhas; BDC Chairman Abdul Gani Butt, PRI Members and a number of locals actively participated in planting of different species of plants under “One Beat Guard One Village” program.
The People overwhelmingly welcomed this innovative step of the forest department. The locals said, it is the first time that the forest department came to provide the planting material at their door steps. They will care for the plants as well as forests of adjoining areas. This step will create a bond between villagers and the forest department. People of the area suggested that the forest department should start similar plantation drives along with distribution of plants to locals in other villages of this hilly region also for maintaining green cover of the area. It is pertinent to mention here that Range Officer Siraj along with other field staff of forest Dhandal block organized the whole process of plantation drive under the directions of Conservator Forest Chenab circle and DFO Doda.
