Free distribution of AYUSH-64 drug for COVID patients started at Srinagar

Srinagar: Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar under CCRUM, Ministry of Ayush today started free distribution of AYUSH-64 in collaboration with Sewa Bharti Jammu Kashmir for asymptomatic, mild and moderate COVID-19 patients.

This is in continuation of the national drive for distribution of AYUSH 64 by various organisations of the Ministry of Ayush. The COVID-19 patients who are in home isolation or are staying at isolation centres will be benefiting from this initiative of the Ministry of Ayush.

The Ministry of Ayush in-collaboration with CSIR has recently completed a multi-centric trial on AYUSH-64 and has found good results in safety and efficacy of this drug in the management of mild to moderate COVID-19 patients.

Further it has revealed that the AYUSH-64 exhibits early clinical recovery in COVID-19 cases and helps protect from progression of the disease to severe or critical stage. It comprises poly-herbal extracts of alstonia scholaris, Picrorhiza kurroa, swertia chirata and fine powder of Caesalpinia crista. The medicine is beneficial as anti-viral, anti-pyretic and for helping in reducing the symptoms of COVID-19.

The free distribution of AYUSH-64 has reached almost all states of India. The effort in its distribution is expanding on a continuous basis and Sewa Bharti has volunteered its support for distribution of AYUSH-64 in the entire Kashmir division.

Speaking at the event, Dr Seema Akbar Astt Dir RRIUM Srinagar said that the distribution drive of this drug will increase in coming days and it will benefit the COVID-19 patients of the valley.

Further she said that the drug can be collected from RRIUM Habak Srinagar by an attendant of any COVID-19 patient having valid covid positive test report and patients Adhar card.

Dr Farook Ahmad Dar, Vice President Sewa Bharti along with other representatives were present on the occasion.
