Free ration distribution drive continues at Shopian
Shopian: The Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) continues the distribution of free ration among the BPL and AAY Categories in the Shopian district as per the government directions and provisions of Disaster Management Act.
As the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has rendered thousands jobless, the UT Government has decided to distribute 5 kg grains per soul free of cost to all the beneficiaries of the State National Food Security Act over and above their regular quota in May and June 2021.
In this connection, the FCS&CA Shopian has distributed 7658 quintals of food grains free of cost among the BPL and AAY Categories under Pradan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Youjna (PMGKAY).
Besides, it was also given out that the department has distributed 10200 quintals of rice(NFSA), 350 quintals of Atta(NFSA), 4500 quintals of rice(JKFES), 200 quintals of Flour (PMGKAY) among the beneficiaries of Shopian district as on now.
The government is providing ration to the registered consumers at their doorsteps as per protocol to avoid public gatherings and observe social distancing during collection and distribution of the essentials.
