Freie Universität Berlin Launches Next Round of International Continuing Education Program

FUB-ContinuEd, the international continuing education program of Freie Universität Berlin, will once again be offering its online and on-site certificate courses for lifelong learners from all over the world in summer 2024. Interested parties can choose from a range of topics that impart important skills for the job market across all sectors. These include topics such as positive leadership; stress and conflict management; problem solving; intercultural communication; and diversity and sustainability. People from twenty countries have already taken part in the program.

The international certificate courses are especially designed for people who want to supplement their professional qualifications with practical skills to help them navigate an increasingly globalized workplace. The aim of FUB-ContinuEd is to address a broad range of cross-sector topics that help participants to deal with pressing social issues and changes in their professional world. This includes topics such as positive leadership; stress and conflict management; problem solving; intercultural communication; and diversity and sustainability in work and everyday life. The course “Academic Writing in German,” which is specially designed for non-native-speaking academics, students, and doctoral candidates, is also part of the program.

The majority of the courses take place online and in English. Consisting of online live sessions and asynchronous self-study phases, they offer participants flexibility in the learning process in terms of time and organization. This format has already enabled people from twenty countries around the world to take part in the program. Dr. Kristina Rödder, program director of FUB-ContinuEd, reports: “We are always delighted to welcome participants with different cultural backgrounds and life experiences to the online live sessions. The courses thrive on the exchange of experiences and intercultural learning among the participants.”

Over a period of seven to nine weeks, classes impart the significant findings from current research to participants and link that knowledge to practical case studies and the demands of the workplace. The courses take place in small groups and thus enable an intensive and in-depth exchange. Those wishing to take part in the courses should be familiar with the demands of academic study and be accustomed to seeking solutions to practical problems independently and in teams. An advanced level of proficiency in the course language is a prerequisite. Participants receive a certificate from Freie Universität Berlin upon successful completion of the course.

In addition to the regular range of course offerings, individually tailored continuing education courses for closed groups can also be held upon request. This is particularly suited to companies and organizations that are looking to train groups internally and adapt the course content to meet their specific needs.
