“G-20 to Promote Extensive Utilization of Small Grains,” Announces Union Minister V. Muraleedharan
Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant development, Union Minister V. Muraleedharan revealed that the G-20 meetings this year will focus on fostering the widespread adoption of small grains. Through the provision of small grain meals, organizing small grain fairs, and distributing small grain snacks, efforts are being made to encourage the extensive utilization of these grains. This announcement was made during the inauguration of Annam The Millet Shop, a commendable initiative established by the Center for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA), located at Kuravankonam in Thiruvananthapuram. The G-20 summit serves as an ideal platform to raise awareness about small grain crops. Deliberations with small grain farmers have been initiated as part of the summit, aiming to highlight the significance of these crops. Notably, distinguished guests attending the G-20 heads of state meeting will be served dishes such as ragi dosa and jowar uppuma, exemplifying the diverse culinary possibilities with small grains.
