G20 Forum: Rev. Daaji urges to clean ‘Thought-Pollution’ as the 18th Sustainable Development Goal
Hyderabad : The Group of Twenty (G20) forum took place at Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning with Heartfulness Institute being a prominent participant. G20 a premier forum for international economic cooperation playing an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. In 2019, Padma Bhushan Revered Daaji – Spiritual Guide of Heartfulness and President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission presented a very powerful concept of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015 which will only be realized if an 18th SDG is added to them – 18th SDG being “Thought Pollution”. With the G20 Digital Economy Working Group, Rev. Daaji shared the vision and practical solutions to bring an evolution of consciousness by regular meditative practices on the heart. This shift is being regarded vital in order to create effective economic policy and sustainability. Rev. Daaji also led a group meditation for the G20 delegates from around the world. This was followed by a Q&A session.
Rev. Daaji – Spiritual Guide of Heartfulness and President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission said, “When we talk of the 17 SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) goals by the United Nations, they are all interdependent. Money and greed are the basis for environmental pollution. Competitive nature takes over. The Indian tradition believes that the reason behind competitiveness is thought pollution. If you can regulate mind and bring about a healthy mindset, then we can solve all the problems. That is why the 18th SDG is thought pollution.” He added, “Yoga tells us that if the individual mind finds peace, it can achieve a lot. Is it possible to have peace without harmony within us and with the surroundings? Is harmony possible without contemplating minds? Is contemplativeness possible without having achieved a focused state of mind. And is focused state of mind possible without a mental gym. Your mental gym is meditation or Dhyana. Which are loosely translated synonymous. But I differ. Dhyana is to transcend the mind itself. And many good things happen automatically. When the mind is in tune with higher self, the heart will recognizes a mistake. Whenever we have followed the heart, the results are stunningly beautiful.”
