G20 Prize Distribution Ceremony for Painting Competition by Aligarh’s Disability Unit

 

Aligarh : The Disability Unit at Aligarh Muslim University hosted a Prize Distribution Ceremony for the winners of painting competition designed for school students, in line with the G20 theme. This event aimed to raise awareness of young students about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

The Chief Guest for the event, Prof. Abdul Alim, the Dean of Student Welfare at AMU, distributed prizes to 24 outstanding young artists and inaugurated exhibition showcasing the winning paintings at the Disability Unit’s gallery.

The exhibition will be accessible to the public for the next three days, according to Prof. M. K. Pundhir, coordinator of the disability unit, who gave the opening remarks.

Dr. Asif Ali, the event’s convenor, outlined its goals and procedures during the ceremony. He said that “Over 150 students from AMU schools enthusiastically participated in this event, with 24 of them having different abilities, including 13 who were visually challenged.” He acknowledged the challenges faced by the judging panel while evaluating the remarkable artwork created by these young participants. Ultimately, the jury decided to recognize more participants by distributing prizes on a school-by-school basis.

The organizing team appreciated Dr. Waseem Raza Khan, the co-convenor, for his contributions and commitment to the event’s success. Dr. Shagufta Niyaz, a councilor from the Disability Unit, anchored the event and concluded the ceremony by extending a vote of thanks.

The event organizers also expressed their appreciation to Shivani Saraswat, a Ph.D. Scholar, for her voluntary assistance in making the event a memorable success.
