Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated at AMU Centres and Schools
Aligarh : Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, principles and his lifelong journey were discussed at length at Gandhi Jayanti functions held at the centres and schools of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Cleanliness drive Swachhta Hi Seva Aabhiyan was also conducted on the occasion.
The Department of Business Administration, AMU, Kishanganj Centre, organized a programme at the Academic Block.
Prof. Hassan Imam, Director of the Centre, talked about the mindful interaction of Mahatma Gandhi with Britishers about the laws and policies in favour of the people of India, while Prof Perwez Nazir, Department of History narrated several episodes from the life of Mahatma Gandhi and his impact across the world.
The programme started with a welcome address by Dr Mohd Shahzad Alam, Department of Business Administration.
Tanishka Varshney (MBA) and Zerafsah Khanam (MBA) delivered speeches in English and Hindi languages respectively. Dr. Faiz Mohammad proposed a vote of thanks.
Janvi Deep Banker and Zeba Chauhan (MBA) conducted the programme.
AMU Girls’ School organized a special assembly, wherein the Principal, Ms. Amna Malik narrated the life story of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, highlighting the ideals of truth and non-violence.
The students’-led choir sang patriotic songs with full exuberance.
Special speeches with Gandhian quotes and messages brought the gathering to understand more about the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
On this occasion, Tayyaba Fatima Mazhar of Class XII (Humanities) was declared the Head Girl of the school, for the session 2022_2023.
At the ceremony held at Abdullah School, Mrs. Umra Zaheer, Superintendent of the school highlighted the sacrifices and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mrs Sheeba Siddiqui, Mrs Anjum Anwar and Mr Mohd Merajuddin Nadwi expressed their views in Hindi, English and Urdu respectively. Plantation and Cleanliness Drive also took place. The programme was conducted by cultural coordinator Ms. Lubna Imtiaz.
Floral tributes were paid to the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi at Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged.
Dr. Naila Rashid, the Principal underscored the values and principles propagated by the Father of the Nation.
Dr Bablu Quraishi delivered a speech in Hindi, describing the sacrifices made by Gandhiji during the freedom struggle.
Mr. Sirajuddin Shaikh, along with the students, sung “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”, the favourite bhajan of Gandhiji.
Lady Superintendent Miss Shahin Parveen was present on the occasion.
