RAMBAN : District Administration Ramban today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with national fervour and enthusiasm to pay rich tributes to the father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi Ji and launched a cleanliness campaign at many places in the district.

At a district level function held in Conference hall of District Administrative Complex, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal along with other officers and officials paid rich tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi Ji.

ACR, Gias Ul Haq; CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal; ACD, Ashok Singh Katoch and several other officers and officials of different departments took a pledge for maintaining peace and communal harmony.

Meanwhile, District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta also administered a pledge to participants under Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam the line departments and institutions conducted more than four thousand cleanliness drives and other events across the district to pay tributes to Shri Mahatma Gandhi ji as part of Sankalp Saptaah campaign.

Recalling contributions of Mahatma Gandhi ji in the freedom struggle, he described Gandhi ji as a great visionary and an International personality. The ADC said that Gandhi ji was an apostle of non-violence and a staunch peace lover. “The United Nations has declared this day as International Non Violence Day, thus recognizing contributions and philosophy of Gandhi ji which is more relevant in the current scenario across the world,” he added.

Similar functions were also organised at Sub-divisional, Tehsil, Block and office levels.

The Educational Intuitions also organized awareness rallies and other informative events in which students of the Government and Private schools participated.
