Gannon University: Gannon SPSEA members serve during “Outreach to Teach”
Gannon School of Education students and Student Pennsylvania State Education Association (SPSEA) president and treasurer, Alejandra Ledesma and Sammy Saur, participated in SPSEA’s Outreach to Teach project, part of the annual state conference. The project gives students the opportunity to brighten up a selected school’s space and “help make the building look the same way it feels when you walk in!”
Volunteers focused their efforts on 14 projects across the school. Every year PSEA visits a different city and carries out a service project–this year being at McKinley Elementary.
Amy Grande, McKinley Community School Director said, “We are so excited to welcome the students and all staff PSEA to our building and are so grateful to be the chosen site.”
United Way of Erie County reports that “mobilization of efforts between McKinley, partners, volunteers, staff, and friends made this transformation possible. We cannot wait to see the reaction of the Mariners when they return to school after spring break.”
