Gannon University’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion welcomed Key Arts Productions, a dynamic performance ensemble specializing in innovative live multimedia productions, to campus to present “King’s Dream,” a vibrant tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 19, 2023.

King’s Dream offered the Gannon community a unique opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the Nobel Peace Prize recipient who led America’s peaceful revolution for equal rights for all.
Lighting up the walls, screens and air of Gannon’s Yehl Ballroom with imagery and song, King’s Dream captured the spirit of the civil rights movement, telling the story of drama, courage and perseverance. Attendees heard – and were encouraged to join – renditions of Amazing Grace, We Shall Overcome, Lift Every Voice and Sing, Bob Dylan’s classic Blowin’ In the Wind, Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, Everything Must Change, and other memorable tunes that signified the period.

These were accompanied by images and film telling the story of the life and teachings of preeminent human rights activists of the 20th century; courageous individuals like Rosa Parks, the Arkansas Nine, and the Freedom Fighters.

“Thought-provoking live commentary tells the story of the turbulent 1960s, a time in American history that was dramatic, powerful and at points painful. The challenges of the Vietnam War, the political challenges and assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and the final signing of the Civil Rights Act by President Lyndon B. Johnson are revealed in the KING’S DREAM program.” – Key Art Productions
