GCW Gandhi Nagar NCC cadets celebrate International Yoga Day 2021
JAMMU: The NCC cadets of GCW Gandhi Nagar today actively participated in many activities organised to spread awareness among the people about the benefits of practicing Yoga for good health and mind.
The Cadets of 1-J&K Girls Bn, 1-J&K Naval Unit and 2 J&K Girls Bn composed beautiful jingles like ‘Aao Yog Apnaye’, ‘Let’s learn Yoga’ etc. and participated in online jingle composition competition organised by the respective NCC units.
The NCC Cadets spread the message of healthy lifestyle by taking an online pledge that everyone will be gentle towards oneself & will do Yoga for better health. The Cadets also made videos in which they demonstrated various Asanas for physical health, mental health & peace.
Through the videos they showed that Yoga is the best method to make the mind stress free and relaxed. The Cadets performed yoga Asanas with their family members on the theme’ Yoga from Home, Yoga with Family’. An online yoga quiz competition was also held which witnessed participation of the Cadets of all the units. The yoga videos and jingles were also shared on social sites to spread awareness about yoga among the general masses.
A virtual yoga session on the topic ‘Yoga for well being’ was organised in which Nikhil Sharma, a renowned scholar of Yoga shared many tips to improve concentration & mental well being through Yoga Asanas. He spoke on the benefits of Yoga and taught ‘Asanas’ to improve concentration and mental health. The cadets performed various Asanas practically.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Sangita Nagari expressed delight to see the cadets participating in such large numbers in the online activities to commemorate International Yoga Day. She said that ‘Yoga especially in this pandemic period is very important to build physical and mental health. All activities were conducted under the supervision of ANOs of the college, Lt. Dr. Revika Arora, S Lt. Dr. Neelima G and Lt. Suman Bala.
