GCW Parade holds webinars on career Counselling, Indian System of Medicine

 

JAMMU : Government College for Women Parade Ground Jammu, under Aazadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (celebrating 75 years of Independence) organised two online interactions on career counselling and Indian System of Medicine.

A career counselling session “Women of Wisdom” was organised by the NSS Unit of the college under the supervision of the Principal Dr. S.P Sarswat and the guidance of NSS program officers, Dr. Mohammad Majeed (HoD, Urdu Department), Dr. Gurpreet Kour (Assistant Professor, Chemistry) and Dr. Pervaiz Ahmed (Assistant Professor, Zoology).

Two esteemed guests, PD Nitya, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Ramban and Prayati Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax, Tripur Tamil Nadu were invited to apprise students about that issues related career and to share their views on career counselling.

The event started with a formal Welcome speech by Dr. Gurpreet Kour (Coordinator of the event). In the interactive session, the students raised several queries and dilemmas faced whilst choosing a career or the situations they face while pursuing their goals and ambitions, which were responded by the two speakers.

They shared their experience related to their career and the period when they were preparing for the UPSC examinations. Students and other participants were deeply touched by their stories as they were highly inspired by their words of wisdom. They also shared their views on the topic “Influence of social media, on an individual’s mentality whilst choosing a career.”

The programme was live streamed on the Official YouTube page of the college. The Event ended with a formal vote of thanks, by NSS Commander, Mavi Sapolia, thanking all the dignitaries, staff members, NSS Programme Officers, members of Counselling cell and participants for joining the event.

The NSS Unit hosted another webinar on “Relevance of Indian System of Medicine on Covid Pandemic”

Two esteemed Medical Officers, from Indian Medical System, (AYUSH) were invited to apprise students about the medical systems that are being practiced in India such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.

The first speaker of the event was, Dr. Suresh Sharma (Assistant District Medical Officer, Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH, Jammu). He acquainted students with effects of Covid 19 and Ayurvedic Management.

The other speaker of the webinar was Dr. Nikhil Sharma (Medical Officer, Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH, Jammu). He focused on the topic, “AYUSH System and its Public Outstretch” where he apprised students about the History and Importance of Ayurveda.

The speakers also replied to various questions of the participants. The event was conducted on the social media platform of Cisco WebEx app. About 100 Volunteers participated in this webinar.
