GDC Baramulla hosts ‘Talk show’ on placement avenues
Baramulla: The Department of Psychology, Government Degree College, Baramulla in collaboration with Kashmir Lifeline today hosted a talk show on placement avenues for undergraduate and postgraduate students of psychology.
The event witnessed a massive participation of students and faculty of the host department.
Priti Sridhar, Chief Development Officer (Mumbai based organization), Mariwala Health Initiative (MHI) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. MHI is a funding agency for innovative mental health initiatives, with a particular focus on making mental health accessible to marginalized persons and communities.
On the occasion, Sridhar presented a detailed account of funding provisions under MHI for mental health initiatives and explained the mechanism of how mental health could be made accessible to marginalized and downtrodden sections of society. She informed student participants about the availability of job avenues in institutions and organizations governed by government, semi-government or non-government organizations, across the country.
She also shared her expertise and experiences with the participants with regard to marketability of the discipline they are pursuing and how to upskill themselves to be the job providers instead of job seekers.
She also lauded the efforts of the faculty of the concerned department and the college administration in proving state of art infrastructure, high-tech gadgets for transmitting knowledge, and above all a serene and congenial learning ambience.
Earlier, Dr. Navshad Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of Psychology briefed the Kashmir Lifeline team about the academic and supportive services of the department. He tabled a brief gist of works and assignments undertaken by the department including virtual mode of academic activities during COVID-19 pandemic, community services by way of offering e-counseling to students as well as general masses of UT of J&K.
