GDC D.H Pora holds Inter College Seminar on Climate Change & Human Health

 

SRINAGAR : To commemorate the world science day, an inter collegiate seminar on “Climate Change & Human Health” was organised at GDC D. H. Pora, Kulgam in which students from ten degree colleges of South Kashmir participated in the seminar.

While presenting the welcome address, the Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Sharique Zahida Deva impressed upon the importance of science in day to day life & need for further research in applied science in view of impending crisis created by the climate change world over.

On the occasion, an informative & elaborate lecture was given by renowned physicist Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Javaid Ahmad. Prof (Dr.) Sheikh Javaid Ahmad talked about COP 26 which is in progress at Glassgow & impatience of world to address the issue through mitigation & adaptation.

Meanwhile, the students were assessed by a three panel jury consisting of Dr. Suhaib Ahmad Bandh, Dr. Nadiya Muzaffar & Dr. Saba.

Ms. Rukhshande Iram of Govt. Degree College Kulgam, Makhdoomi Simran Rashid of Govt. Degree College for Women’s Anantnag & Saba Hassan of Govt. Degree College D. H. Pora were awarded as 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Ms. Tabinda Hassan of Govt. Degree College Shopian & Ms. Rozia Hassan of Govt. Degree College for women’s Pulwama. The seminar proceedings were carried out by Dr. Javaid Jahan & the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Rohitul Bashir.
