GDC Doda organizes series of activities to celebrate International Women’s Day

To celebrate International Women’s Day, series of activities were organized by NSS unit and Women Development Cell of the college in collaboration with forest department and Tehsil Legal Services Authority. The day started with cleanliness drive in the college playground by the NSS volunteers of the college under the supervision of Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college. Thereafter, the female staff and students of the college enthusiastically planted about 20 Deodar saplings around the boundary wall of botanical garden. The plantation was conducted in presence of Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college and Dr. Jatinder Kumar Singh, Conservator of forests, Chenab Circle, Doda. The forest officials helped in the preparation of pits for plantation of Deodar saplings. Also, poster making contest and symposium based on the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” was organized by the Women Development Cell of the college. A number of students participated in this event and prizes were distributed to the winners. The event was coordinated by Prof. Falak, Convener, Women Development Cell and other committee members namely Dr. Anita Kotwal, Prof. Preeti Devi, Prof Akrity Parihar, Prof. Purnima Manhas and Prof. Zain Batt. The Tehsil Legal Services Autthority was represented by Advocate Manjeet Bhagat. NSS volunteers of the college participated in all the activities and also won prizes in different competitions. The other faculty members who attended the event included Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Imtiyaz Hussain and Prof. Zain-Ul-Abdeen Banday.
