GDC Dudu-Basantgarh hosts symposium under SVEEP

 

UDHAMPUR : Government Degree College Dudu Basantgarh today organised a symposium on the theme “My vote is my future and power of one vote” under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.

As many as 10 students took part in the competition and expressed their views about national voters’ day and the importance of participating in the elections.

The Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation is a flagship awareness programme of Election Commission of India which aims to develop awareness among voters for active participation in elections and to provide electoral literacy among masses.

The program was organized in the institution with the purpose to motivate young voters for active participation in elections and to create a sense that every vote matters and its main objective was “Greater participation for Stronger Democracy”.

Principal of the College Dr. B. C. Anthal threw light on the importance of elections and said that every single vote is imperative for development of a strong Democracy. He motivated the students to cast their vote and educate others as well .

All the participating students delivered his/her views very nicely making it very difficult for the jury members to shortlist the position holders. Finally, on the basis of content, speech and presentation, Varinder Singh of Semester 5th was judged for 1st position, Rabia Sultana of semester -5th for 2nd position and the 3rd position was shared by Neetu Devi and Babli Devi of 2nd Semester.

Dr. Mudasir Ahmad, Aastha Gupta and Dr. P.P. Singh acted as the jury.

The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Nazeer Ahmad and the programme was supervised by Prof. Pradeep Kumar Kundal.
