GDC Kathua celebrates World Heritage Day
KATHUA : Department of History, Government Degree College, Kathua today celebrated World Heritage Day.
The World Heritage Day also known as International Day for Monument and Sites is observed across the Globe to raise awareness about preserving the history, diversity, and vulnerability of world heritage sites and monuments. The idea behind celebrating this day is to encourage local communities and individuals to consider the importance of cultural heritage in our lives and to promote awareness about the efforts required to protect and conserve it.
To mark the occasion, a poster making competition was organised to highlight the importance of heritage and culture. Over thirty five students of the History department took part in the competition.
The posters of Vanishika, Amisha Devi and Bavita Devi were declared first, Second and third in the competition, while posters of Arpita Andotra and Mohit Verma were acknowledged with consolation prizes.
The event was judged by HOD Punjabi Dr. Kamaldeep Singh; HOD Dogri, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and HOD Urdu Dr Shamsher Singh.
The World Heritage Day was celebrated under the patronage of Incharge Principal Prof Raj Kiran Sharma and under the supervision of HOD Department of History. Prof Manmohan Singh.
