GDC Kathua organises workshop on “Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme”

 

KATHUA : Government Degree College Kathua, in collaboration with “Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education”, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, on Tuesday organised a One Day Workshop on the topic “Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme.”

Principal of the College, Dr. M.S. Pathania, was the Chief Guest, while Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma was the Guest of Honour. Shivali Choudhary, J&K REDC, UT Coordinator was the resource person in the workshop.

The programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, GDC Kathua who outlined the purpose and structure of the event.

The Chief Guest Dr. M.S Pathania, in his address, highlighted various Skill Development Initiatives taken by Higher Education Department as per New Education Policy. He appreciated the role of Career Counselling and Placement Cell in organizing such types of workshops for the betterment of students.

Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma, in her address, emphasized on various types of rural development Programmes being implemented for College students and stressed that youth should become Job creators rather than job seekers.

Resource person, Shivali Choudhary, in her deliberations, made the students aware about challenges of rural entrepreneurship, management, small scale manufacturing business ideas and various activities performed by villagers through innovative thinking.

She stressed upon the proper utilization of resources available in the Villages by the villagers through innovative ideas.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Assistant Professor Department of Chemistry.

More than 100 students participated in the interactive session of the workshop. Among others who attended the workshop were Prof. Neha Mahajan, Dr. Renu Gupta and Prof. Ram Krishan.
