GDC Kilam celebrates International Womens Day

 

Kulgam: The Govt. Degree College Kilam celebrated International Womens Day with ‘Empowered Women Empower Women’ as the theme of the Symposium.

The programme was jointly organised by Women Empowerment Cell and NSS Unit of the college and the guests invited on the occasion include Artist Saima Jan, Rohi Jan, Rafiqa and Naseema Akhter.

The programme was presided over by Principal of the college, Prof. Dilruba Rasool Hamdani.

Prof. Hamdani on the occasion elaborated the significance of International Womens Day and highlighted the achievements of women in social, economic, cultural and political areas. She laid stress on how every womans success should be an inspiration to others. When women support each other incredible things happen she said.

Saima Jan, who works as an artist at Cultural Academy Srinagar while speaking highlighted that in spite of being a specially abled women she struggled and strived hard and is living a dignified life.

Rohi Jan, a visually impaired girl currently pursuing Ph.D at Aligarh Muslim University has also qualified UGC NET in education, she has accepted all the challenges of life.

Similarly, Rafiqa CHO, Health Centre Kilam and Naseema Akhter LHV, Health Centre Kilam shared their life experiences and struggles they faced for achieving their goals.

At last Mehraba Akbar, the Coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell, GDC Kilam while deliberating on women empowerment emphasized on three things viz celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about the bias and take action for equality.
