GDC Marh introduces Skill Course in Computer Concepts with NIELET; celebrates Basant Panchami

 

Jammu: Government Degree College, Marh today organised a grand function to celebrate Basant Panchami with full vivacity and festivity and mark the introduction of Skill Course in Computer Concepts with NIELET.

The programme started with lighting of traditional lamp of learning by Prof. Aeklta Gupta, Principal the college.

The students offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati by reciting Saraswati Vandana. The college was decorated with yellow Rangoli and Flowers. Staff and Students were in yellow attire and yellow Halwa (Prasad), a dish specific to the occasion was also distributed among all those present.

Chief Guest, Principal, GDC, Marh, Prof. Aekta Gupta, in her keynote address highlighted the importance of Basant Panchimi, which according to Hindu calendar falls on the fifth day (Panchami) of Hindu month of Phagun. The festival is usually considered to mark the onset of spring in India. She said Goddess Saraswati is worshipped to achieve wisdom, since she is synonyms with learning, music and art. She congratulated the first batch of 67 students enrolled in the Skill Course in Computer Concepts with NIELET and motivated other students to join such courses to enhance their job employability. Bonanza of cultural programme was presented, which featured Bhajan, Poems and Dance performances by the college students.

Prof Ashu Jolly, presented vote of Thanks. The event was attended by all the staff members along with ZEO Marh, Ram Rakha and Staff of Govt Middle School Marh. Principal, Aekta Gupta appreciated the organizing committee and all the faculty members for making event a grand success.
