GDC Sunderbani organises week long Clean India campaign

 

RAJOURI : Government Degree College, Sunderbani NSS & NCC volunteers organized a week-long awareness programme including door-to-door campaign with special focus on rejuvenation of rivers and water bodies with involvement of local community. The programme was undertaken as a part of the Clean India Campaign in commemoration with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The students of college undertook an extensive one-week awareness programme which is considered to be a cost-effective measure to combat the rising pollution in the rivers and water bodies.

Around 40 NSS & NCC Volunteers of the College raised public awareness about water conservation by educating the people about water resources, water use, and the need to conserve water.

They visited nearby villages and had interaction with locals regarding conservation of water bodies. The volunteers also visited water bodies at a distance of 3.4 kms from the college namely Maijra-di-Bawli in Naddani village, another Bawli in Village Kund and a pond in Shivkashi at Dova Village. The collected waste and rubbish in and around the water bodies and made people aware with posters and by taking out rally amid chanting of slogans about conservation of water bodies.

The program was organized by Prof. Sham Lal, NSS Program Officer and Ravi Kumar, CTO NCC Unit. Prof. Sheraz Kousser Co-Convenor NSS, Prof. Beant Singh, Dr Shezad Ahmed, Prof Sandeep Kumar Member NSS, Prof. Rabinder Kumar and Prof. Kuldeep Kumar also contributed in the success of the events. Dr. Vandana, Gupta Principal of GDC Sunderbani appreciated the NSS and NCC Unit of the college for volunteering in community services.
