GDC Tangmarg organizes Ist Gulmarg inter-College Table Tennis

BARAMULLA: The 1st Gulmarg Inter-College Table-Tennis and Chess Tournament organised by Department of Physical Education and Sports, Government Degree College Tangmarg commenced, here.

The tournament will last for 9 days during which 48 teams from 21 colleges of the Kashmir division shall be participating and competing against each other.

The Physical Director of GDC Tangmarg Ashfaq Ahmad Bhat kick-started the tournament with a spirited welcome address in which he presented the detailed description of the event.

He encouraged and motivated the young sport lovers present in the event thus igniting a thrilling atmosphere.

On the occasion, Principal Degree College Tangmarg, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq presented the keynote address. She expressed her happiness and excitement in organizing such mega-events in the campus and appreciated the efforts of Ashfaq Ahmad and sports committee members as well. She further encouraged the students to take interest in sports besides curricular activities.

Pertinently, on the inaugural day, several matches between teams were held. The first match of the Table-Tennis championship was flagged off by the Principal of the college between GDC Bemina and GDC Beerwah.

Later, in the match GDC Bemina team emerged as the winner. The event was followed by a more matches among different teams, in specific, 12 matches between different colleges were played throughout the day.
