GDC Udhampur remembers R.K Narayan; Celebrates World Translation Day

 

UDHAMPUR : Celebrating the Incredible Indian Writers under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, The Devika Literary Club of PG Department of English of the Government Degree College Udhmapur today organised a literary meet to commemorate the birth anniversary of writer, R K Narayanan, the writer of famous Malgudi Days and Novels converted to films like The Guide (Starred by Dev Anand).

The event was held under the patron-ship of Principal Prof. Subash Chander Sharma.

In his message, the Patron appreciated the efforts of the Devika Literary Club for carrying on the torch of literature and humanitarianism and remembering the renowned writers of India in the celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

The convener of Devika Literary Club Dr. Pankaj Sharma welcomed the guests and the presenters. He also apprised the students about the fortnight series of the literary club to be organised as a regular feature.

Later, the students of PG English viz. Binish Khan, Saniya Bakshi, Rudrika Khajuria, Charvi Kalsotra, Reyaz Ahmed and Shubam Bhardwaj presented their views and perspective about the works, life, career and achievements of the story writer and Novelist, R.K Narayan.

The students also celebrated the international Day of Translation by remembering the renowned translators and Displaying Placards on Translation.

The programme was organised and coordinated by Binish Khan.

The expert views in the interactive session were provided by Prof. Shaji Khan, Dr. Rippy Bawa and Dr. Pankaj Sharma.

Dr. Rippy Bawa, who has her research on R.K Narayan, gave a deep insight into the style, structure and artistry in his Works.

The staff of the English Department, Prof Reena Bhagat, Dr Kawaljeet Kour, Prof Irshad Ahmad, Guests Sajad Dilawar and Dr. Preeti Sharma, were also present in the programme.
