GDC Ukhral holds awareness program on ‘National Pollution Prevention Day’

 

RAMBAN: Government Degree College Ukhral today organised an awareness programme on the National Pollution Prevention day. The Programme was organized with the purpose to aware and sensitise the students about varied kinds of pollutions and the need to control them.

The Principal of the college, Dr. Ranvijay Singh, while commencing the programme, informed the students about prevention of pollution produced by industrial and human negligence. He also talked about the natural resources like Air, soil and water with the aim of preventing them.

The programme was conducted by the department of Environmental Science of the College.

Dr. Akhter Rasool gave the historical background and of the day while remembering the victims of Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984. He stressed on the need of not burning the waste in crowded areas and enhance of plantation in urban areas. Dr. Altaf Rasool also talked about measures of controlling the pollution with varied means. Dr. Shafiq Ahmad Katoch and Prof. Zakir Hussain and RafiaBano also presented their thoughts about the topic of discussion. The program was moderated by Prof. Iftikhar Hussain of department Of English
