GE Aviation’s Digital Group Joins GE Digital

GE Digital, GE’s [NYSE:GE] software business, today announced that GE Aviation’s Digital Group has joined the company. This group features digital solutions that address flight safety, fuel, asset records, and network operations for commercial airlines and business jet operators, and data integration to help securely convert data into insights. Solutions help aircraft operators to increase aircraft readiness, decrease the sustainment cycle time and lower sustainment costs.

“This is an exciting business with a talented team focused on innovative products and solutions,” said Pat Byrne, CEO, GE Digital. “Their deep domain knowledge in aviation and flight analytics make them well positioned to provide digital solutions across the aviation industry. They provide data-driven insights for commercial airlines and business jet operators to help aircraft operators to reduce operational costs, empower crews, improve passenger experience, and get mission-ready. With the addition of Aviation as a target market for GE Digital, we are strengthening our overall industrial software business.”

“We get to make aviation safer by turning flight data into insight,” said Andrew Coleman, the former Chief Commercial Officer for GE Aviation’s digital business who will now lead this team as General Manager. “We do it while also helping to make our world cleaner and more sustainable, and we make life-altering differences to our customers. With our partners and customers, we invent the future of flight, lift people up and bring them home safely.”

GE Digital’s Aviation Software capabilities provide a collection of full flight data, management of compliance for leased asset records, and advanced analytics for fuel management and operational safety—providing insight that helps drive optimization of the fleet. This allows aircraft operators to tackle their most pressing maintenance issues faster, make better decisions regarding real-time fleet health, and increase fleet reliability and help boost customer satisfaction. In particular, predictive maintenance capabilities drive reduced operational costs through analytics-based solutions that take maintenance from unplanned to planned — a big change in the airline industry.
