Geographer’s Day at the Karelian Branch of the Russian Geographical Society

Geographers of the Department of Earth Sciences and Geotechnologies of the Institute of Forest, Mining and Construction Sciences of PetrSU took part in the solemn conference dedicated to the Day of the Geographer. On August 18, a solemn meeting of the Karelian branch of the Russian Geographical Society took place online.

Karelian geographers, historians, scientists of PetrSU and KSC, representatives of public organizations, cultural elite of Karelia, travelers, nature lovers, graduate students, masters, students and schoolchildren from Petrozavodsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Finland and other regions of the country and abroad took part at the conference in honor of the Day of the Geographer. This day found many in different parts of the world, so it was decided to hold this meeting online. The conference was held on the initiative of the Presidium of the Karelian Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
The reports presented at the conference showed a wide range of topics related to geography and deep erudition of the authors. They talked about initiatives, scientific and other grants, interesting projects in which our fellow countrymen – the popularizers of geography – take part.
