Geographers evaluate young colleagues
“The future of Petrozavodsk” is the name of the conference, which was attended by our young fellow countrymen.
Teachers of the Institute of Forest, Mining and Construction Sciences of the Department of Earth Sciences and Geotechnologies R.F. Antonova, S.P. Influenza, N.B. Polevshchikova, IV Shchekoldina, took part as experts and jury in the city conference “The Future of Petrozavodsk”.
The defense of research papers presented at the city conference of young researchers “The Future of Petrozavodsk” took place in a remote format. Young participants confidently stood in front of the audience and demonstrated their skills in video conferencing.
The section “Geography” this year was represented by the works of students of various educational institutions of Petrozavodsk: Maria Korolko, student of the 10th grade MBOU “Petrovsky Palace”, head IB Podgayskaya; Alexander Ovchinnikov, 8th grade student of the Petrozavodsk Presidential Cadet School, head A.P. Chechkausk; Karina Kiprushkina, 11th grade student, and Nikita Vasiliev, 9th grade student of MBOU Petrozavodsk City District “Secondary School No. 3 with Advanced Study of Foreign Languages, UNESCO Associated School”, supervisor E.S. Pogrebnyak; Maria Belyaeva, a student of the 10th grade of the MBOU of the Petrozavodsk urban district “Secondary school number 39”, the head of Y.S. Galeeva.
Authors’ works and reports were distinguished by depth and non-standard approaches to the study of geography.
The experts were pleased with a variety of topics: from the geography of dumplings and volcanoes to meteorological observations and travels of S. I. Dezhnev. The conference participants demonstrated a wide geographic outlook. The jury members highly appreciated the work for the originality of the presentation of the report, interesting techniques, non-standard work with data. The department has long been cooperating with the Center for Education Development and thanks for the opportunity to meet young geographers.
