GIIS Hadapsar celebrates National Science Day to ignite scientific spirit among students
Pune : Global Indian International School (GIIS) Hadapsar campus celebrated National Science Day by sensitizing students with the importance and value the subject holds in our lives. The day was celebrated to encourage students to understand the various aspects of science and develop an interest in the subject. The objective is to create scientific temper in the students.
National Science Day is celebrated in India on the 28th of February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by the famous Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. He was the first Indian to win a noble prize. The significance of the day was shared with the students.
Master Shrihan Desai (Gr 8), Ms Gorochana Singh Rao and MS. Bhuvi Bonde (GR 6) threw light on Dr C.V Raman and his discovery. A brief documentary on the life and work of Dr C.V. Raman and the Raman effect was also showcased during the session to students. The students actively participated by expressing their views and putting forth their queries for the same.
Students also took part in the experiments that showcased oxygen is required for burning, purifying muddy water using Alum, and understanding the reaction between an acid and a base. The event also had a quiz competition in which students from Grade 3 to 8 enthusiastically participated. They not only won awards but also the hearts of all the teachers who were mesmerized to see the zeal and enthusiasm of these budding scientists.
