GIIS Hadapsar celebrates the bond between grandparents and grandchildren
Pune: Global Indian International School (GIIS) Hadapsar campus celebrated a special day to honour and recognise the wisdom, love and contributions of grandparents. Preschool students were accompanied by their grandparents to the GIIS Campus, where they sang songs, played old melodies, and had a medley of events in celebration of the day.
The celebration was in line with GIIS’s educational framework of fostering universal values of kindness among students, and developing a connection with the society around them.
Preschoolers, who study at GIIS’s award-winning Global Montessori Plus Program (GMP) welcomed the grandparents in a traditional tilak ceremony and then went on to engage with them through games, songs and dance. Principal Dr. Laxmi Prasanna opened the ceremony, and observed that grandparents are an integral part of development for children, and an important aspect of their childhood memories.
The function ended on a high note, where all the grandparents participated and walked the ramp. They came dressed in a retro style and enthusiastically walked the ramp with their grandchildren which made the show even more successful. ‘Thank you’, cards were in order for the Grandparents, made especially for the occasion by the students. The winner grandparents were greeted with gifts by the Principal which brought a smile on their faces
On the occasion, Vaishali Borde, National Head, Co-Scholastic & Pre-Primary, Global Indian International Schools, said, “This is an opportunity to treasure the special bond that grandparents and children have and spend some quality family time together. It is inevitable to mention that grandparents are the best blessing for a child. They are the best storytellers, cooks and bundles of love for the children. I thank every grandparent for their presence and for their continuous support and guidance to children. The success of the event was evident through the joyful smiles of the grandparents.”
GIIS emphasises not only on academic excellence but also nurtures the students emotionally and spiritually. The celebration for Grandparents is one such event where GIIS taught children about respect and empathy for those around them.
