The school holds a book fair and invites two authors to interact with students during the week-long celebrations
Pune : Global Indian International School, Hadapsar recently celebrated World Book Day by organizing interesting activities as well as a week-long book fair in the school premises where a wide range of contemporary and classic books were made available to students to inculcate a habit of reading and promote love of reading.
Hundreds of students participated in the activities and the book fair, picking the available books of their favorite authors and exploring some new ones. The unique collection of books included fantasy and fiction for children of different age groups. There were also non-fiction options to choose from for those who are interested in history and contemporary art and literature. The book fair had a little something for everyone.
The week-long fair witnessed a visit by two high-profile guests including Mr Riddhhaan Jaiin and Ms Rashmi Jain – both authors in their own right.
Mr. Riddhhaan Jaiin, who was invited as the guest speaker, is a young and accomplished author who started writing books from an early age. He wrote one of his most popular books ‘Once Upon my Mind’ when he was just 8 years old. He spoke about his writing experience as a young, budding author, and how it has shaped his personality at such a young age.
He captivated the audience through stories that gave them a glimpse of his passion for writing, and his journey as an author. During the interaction session, he encouraged students to pursue reading as a hobby and explore the literary world one book at a time.
Ms Jain visited the campus towards the end of the book week. The founder of Soch aur Saaj, Ms Jain is the author of works like ‘Be Wild’ and ‘Alfaz- a collection of poetry.’ During her session, she motivated students from grade 6 to grade 10 to keep a journal of their thoughts and ideas.
Participating students showed enthusiasm throughout the book week, interacting with the guests, spending time at the various booths and having fun in general. Teachers also expressed their views on writing, and emphasized on the importance of maintaining the balance between creativity and their professional life.
