Global Handwashing Day observed

 

ALIGARH  : Renowned pediatrician and patron, AMU Women’s Club, Dr Hameeda Tariq urged people to maintain utmost hygiene by regularly washing their hands and keeping their surroundings clean. She said that the spread of the most of the communicable diseases owed much to lesser hygiene level and one must be vigilant about his or her personal and environmental cleanliness.

Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine), Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal and CMS, JNMC), Prof Haris M Khan (Medical Superintendent and President HISI, Aligarh Chapter), Prof Tamkin Khan (Vice President), Prof Syed Moeid Ahmad (Convener), Dr Fatima Khan (Secretary), Dr Asfia Sultan (Joint Secretary) and members of the HISI Aligarh Chapter were present on the occasion.

Students of J N Medical College conducted several activities and hosted stalls to spread awareness regarding the importance of hand hygiene while maintaining COVID-appropriate behaviour. People attending the fair took an oath to practice hand hygiene and spread awareness about it.

In her concluding remarks, Dr Fatima Khan (Secretary, HISI Aligarh Chapter) assured that efforts will be made to educate people about the importance of hand hygiene on regular basis.

At the Urban Health Training Center (UHTC), Department of Community Medicine, a thematic programme on “Our future is at Hand-Let’s Move Forward Together”, was held under the guidance of Prof Anees Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine), aimed at creating awareness regarding importance of hand washing in daily life.

Dr Suboohi Afzal (CMO, UHTC) emphasized the importance of hand washing and how it protects us from diseases.

Health talks were given by Dr Shaista Perveen and Dr S Danish Iqbaal to sensitize common people towards the significance of hand washing. They also demonstrated ways and steps for hand washing with the help of soap and water.

Dr Hira Alam, Dr Shaista Perveen, Dr Danish Iqbaal, interns and undergraduate students conducted outreach activities to spread awareness regarding hand washing.
