Government Degree College Nowshera organizes online activities to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day

 

RAJOURI: To celebrate the 7th International Yoga Day, Department of Botany, Government Degree College Nowshera organized an online inter-collegiate essay writing competition on the theme “Health Is Wealth”.

The students from different colleges from across the UT of J&K submitted their compositions at the provided email address.

The participants expressed their views on the immense value of yoga in the present pandemic as it has triggered a lot of physical and mental health issues.

As many as 30 presentations were received that were adjudged by Nisha Bhagat, Assistant Prof. Botany GDC Kathua and Dr. Anu Sharma Assistant Prof. Botany GDC Reasi.

Varsha Sharma of GDC Nowshera and Qurat-ul-ain of GDC Tangmarg secured first position, while Sanjana Sharma and Harpreet Kour secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. E-Certificates will be provided to the toppers.

The Department of Botany simultaneously conducted an online yoga session for the students through Google meet in which students of different semesters of the college took part with immense zeal and enthusiasm.

The session started with demonstration of various types of Asanas and pranayamas like Surya-namaskar, Yoga-namaskar, GomukhAsana, Bhastrika, Kapalbhati etc. by Prof. Pooja Devi, HOD Botany.

The session was conducted by Manisha Kanchru, Lecturer EVS, who gave demonstrations of other pranayamas like Anulom-Vilom, Brahmari, Sheetli, Sheetkari, Suryabhedi and Chandrabhedi. The Students were motivated to make yoga a daily routine to develop a balanced body and mind a key for successful life.
