Government Medical College Jammu organises workshop on “Wonders of Women”

 

Jammu : A one day workshop was held in the Government Medical College Jammu on the topic “Wonders of Women” to commemorate International Women’s day and to salute and celebrate her key roles as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, entrepreneur and frontline worker.

On the occasion, the GMC Jammu celebrated women for their acts of courage and determination and for playing an extraordinary role in the society and especially during the pandemic crisis.

Dr. Navneet Kour, International Chairman of UNESC- Gender equality women and child protection, Chairperson National Human Rights Social Justice Council Global, former director Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu region was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

She threw light on the cause and highlighted the need to respect women. She encouraged the women to raise their voice against wrong and urged everyone to sponsor the education of one girl child to build a strong society.

Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal GMC & AH was the Guest of Honor. She said that every woman should always do justice to her role as mother, daughter, wife, sister, friend etc. “In present times, women are not less than anyone, we all are empowered now” she added.

Dr. Sandhya said that we should admire our strength because a strong women can make strong society.

Dr. Meena Sidhu, Chairman Gender Harassment Committee told participants to motivate themselves and then only ‘we will be able to motivate all.’ She said making choices is what we call women empowerment.

Dr. M.I Zargar, the Chief Executive Director of National Human Right Social Justice Council of India and Founder of Desh ka Vikas NGO also graced the occasion.

All the female faculty Members, Resident students, Nursing & Paramedical staff participated in the program. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to them. Dr. Rachna Sabharwal coordinated the whole event.
